Finding a Paper Topic

Filed under: Electronic Resources — Tags: — uhlawlibrary @ 8:00 am

Students searching for a paper topic might want to check BNA U.S. Law Week available to law school students online at http://news.bna.com/lwln/.  Check the “Circuit Splits” from a link on the left-hand side of the page under “Key Features.”

As an example of the information available, LVRC Holdings LLC v. Brekka, a case that questions whether a disloyal employee remains authorized to use a work computer within the meaning of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.  The Ninth Circuit, disagreeing with the Seventh Circuit, says that disloyalty is irrelevant; the employee’s authorization to use a work computer remains valid unless and until the employer revokes it.  More information about the case and the circuit split is provided to get you going on a paper topic in an area of unsettled law.
