The EPA has ordered ZKW Trading Ltd., a Monterey Park, Calif., exporter to dispose of 32,000 pounds of cathode ray tubes (CRT) in 45 days.  Allegedly, the company illegally shipped the CRTs to Hong Kong labeled “plastic scrap.”  Under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act exporters shipping CRTs to another country for recycling must notify the EPA and obtain written consent from the receiving country before the shipments can be made.  The company could face fines of up to $37,500 per day for each violation.

From BNA’s Daily Environment Report 172 DEN A-8.  The Law Library at the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii makes this electronic resource available to faculty, students and staff of the Law School and to other patrons visiting the Law Library.
