Welcome Back!
Welcome to Fall 2010 at the William S. Richardson School of Law Library. Some new and noteworthy happenings in the law library include:
- Casual seating around the library – find new seating nestled in amongst the stacks.
- New classrooms – two new classrooms were added to the law library: Rooms 116 & 115 have been converted for classroom use.
There is a new edition of The Bluebook out. Get the 19th edition. There are over 100 new pages and many changes especially to Rule 18.

Holiday Break Hours
The Law Library will be open for the benefit of students and faculty over the holiday break at the following times:
Mon. – Wed. 12/21-12/23 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Mon. – Wed. 12/28-12/30 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Keeping with the spirit of Manoa Green Days, the library will be minimally lit. However, if you need lights turned on, please ask the librarian on duty at the desk.
You can always check our calendar online for the times we are open and closed at http://www.law.hawaii.edu/calendars. Full services return Mon., Jan. 4, 2010.

When You Need Help Instantly
Can’t remember the login for exams? Or, need help and can’t get to the library desk? Try our new *beta* chat service by Meebo.com. It’s on the law library home page, the student services and reference schedule pages. When a UH Law Librarian is online, the message is “uhlawlibrary is online.” If we aren’t online, go ahead and leave a message. We’ll respond as soon as we login and pick up the message.
To use it, please identify yourself with your real name and your status (1L, 2L, 3L, LL.M., faculty, staff, public patron). Type in a message. Be patient someone will answer you as soon as possible.

Toolbar Improvements
The Law Library continues to develop the UHLawSchool toolbar to put online legal research at your fingertips. Now you can search Google, Aquabrowser, Voyager, or the USS from the toolbar. Simply open the drop down menu next to the “GO” button, select which search to use and type your search query in the search box. If you haven’t yet downloaded the toolbar, you can click on this link and then click on the “Free Download” button. Using the toolbar can save your valuable time. It will install in Firefox, IE, or Safari. Give it a whirl!
Toolbar improvements mentioned in this posting in screen shots:
The “GO” button defaults to a Google search.
Open the “GO” menu and select Aquabrowser to search the Law Library catalog from the toolbar.
You can also search Voyager from the toolbar by opening the “GO” menu and selecting Voyager.
Or, search the Universal Search Solution (USS) from the toolbar by opening the “GO” menu and selecting USS.

*** In doing our part to help with Manoa Green Days program, during the Sat. and Sun. hours, we will be having limited lights throughout the library. Lights will be on only in the reference area, circulation desk, and carrel area.

Blogs, Twitter, Email, and Links to All Law Databases
With the UH Law School Toolbar, links to law blogs, tweets from the law school and law library are available at the click of your mouse. There’s no need to open the library site in a browser tab to get to a database link. The UH Law School Toolbar puts all of the Law Library’s links in your browser. Available for Firefox, Safari and IE. As we continue to develop this toolbar, it will be updated automatically. You can also set it up to monitor your web email like Gmail,Yahoo!, or AOL.
